Some week!

We had an earthquake on Monday. That's not really news around here since Japan has tremors all the time. It was short, maybe five seconds, and not terribly strong, though when I got home all my sweet potatoes had rolled out of their basket and onto the kitchen floor. Oh, pick yourselves up, Imo kids! ;P

Yesterday we had a fire. It started on the grassy slope leading up from the East bike lot. No rain for a couple weeks plus really high, dry grass, I figure it could have been a cigarette butt or something, because it's till not hot enough for a usual brushfire, far as I know. Word made it to the staff room and we had a relay going as teachers yanked whatever fire extinguishers were available and sent them to the front lines. The guys grabbed the emergency hoses and got the whole thing out and soaked before the City personnel arrived.

I'm kind of wary about Friday.

And next Thursday, when I'm somehow supposed to haul myself to the airport and go to Tokyo. I really hope I don't get lost or stranded. I've completely lost my taste for big cities since the whole bullet-through-window thing and I'm heading there all by my lonesome. Hopefully there will be no headlines about unfortunate gaikokujin run-ins with yakuza. >_>
