Drabbles: Missing Scenes
Filling in the little moments we might wish we'd seen.
Title: No Points for PR

“Are you sure about this, General?”
“I've handled war, Lazard. This is nothing.”
The blitz hit him as soon as he opened the door. Cameras flashed. Microphones were shoved in his face. “General Sephiroth, Sir, what do you have to say about the recent accusations of war crimes?”
Sephiroth surveyed the crowd and smirked. “True.”
The gasp was audible. One young reporter moved first. “All of it?”
Sephiroth frowned. “No, not all. I mean, I did cook the baby but I didn't eat it.”
Angeal yanked Sephiroth back inside. Lazard groaned. “General, you are never handling the press alone again.”

Two more steps, he kept telling himself. It wasn't so hard as one might suppose. Just go down the hallway and watch out for large rocks. Ignore the warm blood trailing over your arm, or the feeling that if you shifted wrong your intestines would hit your shoes.
Tseng leaned against the wall for support, leaving a trail of red like a child's finger painting. The doorway was just a little way off. He shuffled into the light and took in the deviously twisted staircase maze he still had to cross. There was only one word for the situation. “Fuck.”

“Cloud, I have a confession,” Zack began. “I've wanted to get into your pants forever. I hope you don't mind.” He reached down and unzipped. “If we had the time, I'd do it right. Dinner, movie, nice music, the works. But here we are. Here, let me get a hand on that. Let's aim at that tree, okay?”
He rubbed Cloud's belly, applying pressure to stimulate flow, unable to avoid looking at the golden arc. When Cloud was done, Zack shook him off and zipped him back up. Then he slung Cloud back over his shoulder and kept on walking.

After the first searing blast there was nothing. Nothing, then everything. He felt his soul tearing free, driven by the pain his flesh had to be feeling to cut all ties. Mako had been his life, his inheritance and his legacy, but he understood it now for the very first time. It was every living thing and through it, he was part of an entire world, with its own pulse and breath.
He woke in a hospital room days later, surrounded by fools. When he shouted for them to turn off the light, they thought his eyes were in pain.

He bought two dozen roses, deep red. He got chocolates and for once bought wine instead of whiskey or beer. Then there was the ring, his grandmother's. Only half a carat but they didn't make settings like that anymore. He waited for the right moment. The stars were out.
Shera turned him down flat.
Two days later she finally had mercy on him. When he asked her why, why would she put him through the wringer like that, she set him free. “I didn't want you spending our whole married life thinking you had to make anything up to me.”

President Shinra had ruled with an iron fist, smoothly gloved in PR velvet to allay the masses. He had been cruel, manipulative and thoroughly in control. So satisfying then, the look of shock on his face as he stared at what was supposed to be dead, his pitiful threats, the way he screamed, bribed and begged for mercy. So much pleasure sinking a blade through all the layers of a very deserving little man. The stench as his bowels gave way was a victory all its own. He lay gasping on his desk for nearly an hour before the end.

I've always wondered how Tseng managed to survive. Loved this.
And I've always wanted to see Cid wake up and make Shera his. She knows how to handle him. Underneath his gruff, profane exterior, there's a gruff, profane pussycat.
I love Rufus and I'm glad to see the moment that changed him.
Zack and Cloud on the run always breaks my heart. A sweet moment and just so ZACKY. (An English version of Last Order would be great for us not-so-Japanese-fluent-English-only girls. Maybe someday Squeenix will do it.)
I always wanted to see the look on Shinra's face when Sephiroth showed up in his office. Best served cold. Love it. I can see the evil smirk.

Zack/Cloud had me giggling.
I am constantly amazed by people who can write things in only 100 words. It's sheer genius. Seriously. 100 words is like...my headers. XD

Just such a poignant moment of realization for a character who, in canon, strikes me as pretty thoroughly evil. Or at least a weasel with a big gun.
Luffed the Sephiroth PR disaster. Man, serves them right for training him up with no social skills. ^^
And, call me sick, but I find Shinra's death at Sephiroth's hands quite rewarding to watch. One of the silver-haired nutto's better moves, really, even if he didn't seem to have thought through the succession very well.
