Here's the score, peeps. I've been slacking off far too much and need to go into study hibernation for a couple of months, or else there'll be tears. I may drop in from time to time, but all fanwork is on hold and there'll be no marathon scouring of sites for fic to read on my end. :(
But not to leave you utterly empty-handed, here are a couple of things I've been meaning to rec for some time. The first is the anime that's captured my fangirly little heart, Natsume Yuujin-Chou, aka Natsume's Book of Friends. The story of a boy who inherits his grandmother's ability to see youkai, along with her book containing the names of the youkai she defeated. Not wishing to hold power over them the way she did, Natsume decides to find these youkai and return their names.
Natsume is aided along the way by Madara, a powerful demon in his own right who spends most of his time in the form of the biggest, fattest, fat, fat, fatass cat that ever was. Madara, nicknamed Nyanko-sensei in his cat form, claims he wants Natsume to die so the Book of Friends will be free for the taking, but as much trouble as Natsume runs into, Giant Neko of Doom just can't seem to let the boy go.Awwwww!
It's a quiet sort of series, given more to introspection than never-ending pre-battle face-offs. The scenery reminds me terribly of the prefecture I was in as a JET (about as country as it gets) and the soundtrack is soothing after a long day. Natsume himself, anime-wise, is a sweetheart of a boy who knows how to swing a fist when the need arises, and can muddle over his own private 'I see demon people' issues without sinking into too much angst over it. Having a spoiled fatass cat to pet, punch or talk to seems to help take the edge off. ;p Natsume makes friends of his own along the way, both human and youkai, and even for a perpetually slash-goggled anime fan like me, it's wonderful having subtext that is actually subtle.
The second season, Zoku Natsume Yuujin Chou, winter to the first season's summer, is almost complete as well.
Next up, is this thing:
Some things don't need much of a reason. XD

In all seriousness, I hope your studies go very well, and I hope you won't go too far.
In other news, I have finally started playing CC. Just in time for ACC to come out, neh? Thus far, Ifrit has kicked my butt four times...
